“Table, set yourself”:

An expression of appreciation

On December 2nd, 2021, our "Set the Table" campaign took place for the third time, but due to the Corona pandemic, for the second time in a row, it was only possible to take the Christmas dinner with you. At the premiere two years ago, everyone was allowed to eat the festive meal together in the festively decorated hall in the "House of the Church". This year, those in need were once again able to enjoy goose leg with red cabbage and dumplings or a vegetarian alternative that our President Kurt Eisenacher had provided in his role as caterer.

Our Rotary campaign "Set the table", organized by our friend Kurt Eisenacher, has been taking place since 2019. In the early morning, our dedicated organization team sets up a serving counter in the winter garden of the Diakonie community center. Head chef Max Eisenacher and his team prepare the meals from 5 a.m. The choice is usually goose leg with red cabbage and dumplings or a vegetarian vegetable lasagne. The meals are picked up by those in need. In addition, there are food deliveries to various institutions by Diakonie logisticians.

This year, support came from both Rüsselsheim Lions Clubs in terms of personnel and finances. In addition to Kurt Eisenacher, Siegfried Ehrler, Hans Groos, Hans Joachim Kunz, Karin Merkel, Olaf Planken and Herbert Roos from our club were also there. Our highly motivated team presented themselves with Rotary aprons and Rotary mouth and nose protection and guaranteed that 130 goose legs with dumplings and red cabbage as well as delicious ingredients were professionally packaged and distributed on site in the house of the "Katharina von Bora" church, Marktstrasse 7, in Rüsselsheim by 12 noon. Here are some photos of the great campaign! By the way: Kurt Eisenacher is already bursting with ideas to make the event even bigger in the future and thus give even more friends the opportunity to get involved in the good cause.
