Visit to “Radio Rüsselsheim”
How does radio actually work – in technical, financial and personnel terms? How do you make a program – and according to what criteria? What do you need to be able to present a show? And what are the technical backgrounds like?
These are the kinds of questions we will be addressing next Monday when we visit “Radio Rüsselsheim” at Ludwigstrasse 13-15. We will meet at 6 p.m. directly in front of the building. Our “hosts” are program director Marc Irmen and technical director Andreas Hattwig.
After our visit, we walk to the Ristorante Delicato on Marktstrasse 5, where tables have been reserved for us. Please note: Please pre-order the main course when you register to avoid long waiting times. Menu: click below!
Monday, August 12, 2024, 7 p.m., Novum Select Hotel:
Prof. Dr. Michael Martin:
The Genesis of the Middle East Conflict
The Middle East conflict has reached a new level of escalation. On October 7, 2023, the radical Islamic terrorist group Hamas fired rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip. Almost 1,500 people were killed and around 3,000 injured (as of October 19, 2023). Hamas' terror was directed in particular against the Israeli civilian population with massacres. Hamas also kidnapped more than 200 people as hostages and is seeking the downfall of Israel.
In response to the terrorist attack, Israel has launched a massive military operation against the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by Hamas - more than 39,000 people have died (as of July 29, 2024). The consequences of the terror and acts of revenge for the Middle East as a whole are not yet foreseeable. All of this could mean the beginning of a conflagration in the Middle East.
Prof. Dr. Martin's lecture can only provide insights into the dimensions of the conflict (e.g. historical, religious, territorial) in order to make the complexity understandable in some detail. In addition, for historical reasons it is generally difficult for Germans to discuss this conflict in a value-neutral manner.
Nevertheless, we will be dealing with the genesis of the Middle East conflict in our meeting on August 12th. The speaker is Prof. Dr. Michael Martin, born in 1960. The business graduate worked in international management consultancies, was responsible for the Far East activities of the GfK Group and was temporarily managing director of a subsidiary of the Ippen Group, Kölner Stadtanzeiger and the Dumont publishing house. From 1994 onwards he was appointed professor of media management at the Rhein Main University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden. In addition, he has advised a wide range of companies, particularly in the field of distance selling and e-commerce, in the areas of strategy, market research, process optimization and logistics. He is currently a partner in a logistics company that has been restructured and led into new business areas with his help over the last 12 years. His teaching activities are limited to presentations and lectures at various universities.
